Snow and Ice Dam Removal

An Ice dam is the ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof and prevents melting snow from draining off the roof. The water that backs up behind the ice dam can leak into the home and cause damage to walls, ceilings, insulation, and other areas.

Different roof surface temperatures are caused by heat loss from the house. Other causes are from sources in the attic, such as chimneys, heat ducts, vents from the kitchen, bath, or wood burning stoves.

Prevention of Ice Dams
Minimizing heat loss from the home and having a uniform air temperature in your attic and roof space can prevent ice dams. Increase the ceiling and roof insulation with materials that have a high R-value (6-7) per inch. With the combination of insulation and making the ceiling airtight, the heat you have paid dearly for will remain in the living space and not melt snow on your roof. Use attic baffles to promote equal airflow and temperature down into the overhangs and soffit Vents, where ice dams most frequently form.

Ice Dam Removal
It is not uncommon to see people trying to remove ice dams by using garden equipment, roof rakes, and even some chemicals. These methods, while eventually effective can cause damage to your roof. At All Phases Gutters & Siding we utilize a powerful and commercial steam machine (kerosene fired), if necessary, to remove ice dams and prevent risk of any structural damage before addressing the problem that is causing you to have ice damming in your structure.

Roofing Services:

We choose this company because they are a family business. We had our house covered in aluminum trim, vinyl siding, and their gutter cover system. We are absolutely pleased with their work. They are presently painting our 1st floor and we are pleased with their work again.

We found All Phases Painting to be thorough, professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Not only did they provide a beautiful finished product, but also they advised us on a way to save money on the project. They were on time (even a little early) for their appointments, and the work was done swiftly and methodically. Their cut-ins were amazingly straight. They came immediately when we called, and I'm so glad they did!

We decided to side our house after Richard pointed out that the siding was too far-gone for any paint job to last a reasonable amount of time. They installed new vinyl windows vinyl siding, aluminum trim, and new gutters and gutter covers. My husband and I feel like we have a new home. They were meticulous and the house looks great.

Richard really knew what he was doing when he repaired our rotting wood. He painted the exterior and it was prepared and painted correctly. Found him from my neighbor. Very easy to work with.
